When children feel distracted, restless, or unable to focus while studying, listening, or sitting quietly, this meditation can help.

Om Shanti.

Hello, my little friend. Let’s sit quietly now. Your back straight and your eyes softly looking in front. Now take a slow, deep breath in and gently breathe out. That’s very good.

Now imagine, inside your head lives a tiny monkey. He’s cute, funny, but oh so jumpy. When you want to study, he suddenly thinks about your favourite game. When someone is talking to you, he runs off to think about your favourite food. He just doesn’t want to sit still.

But don’t worry. You are the boss of your monkey mind. You can teach him to sit quietly and listen to you. Take another deep breath in, and as you breathe out, imagine gently patting the little monkey inside your head. You say to him kindly, “Calm down, my friend. Let’s stay here peacefully and relax.” He looks at you with big eyes and listens to you very carefully. He sits beside you quietly and happily.

Now imagine a small light shining in the middle of your forehead. That light is you, the peaceful being. You are bright, you are calm, and you are peaceful.

You smile inside and tell yourself, “I am the master of my mind. I can make my thoughts peaceful and relaxed. I can focus easily.”

Now from the sky, a soft golden light begins to shine on you. The light of God, the Supreme Being, the ocean of peace. That light touches you and calms your mind, filling you with peace, love, and quiet happiness.

You smile and feel calm. Say to yourself, “I am focused. I am light. And I am peaceful.”

Om Shanti.

This meditation helps children understand their wandering thoughts in a fun and friendly way, like a playful monkey. Instead of feeling frustrated, children learn that they can gently guide their mind with kindness, breathing, and calm awareness.

With regular practice, children feel more focused, relaxed, and confident. They learn that they are the master of their mind and can bring their thoughts back whenever they want. This builds better concentration, emotional balance, and a peaceful, happy feeling inside.

The more consistently this is practiced, the more it nurtures a natural cycle of emotional hygiene — releasing the old, receiving the new — making each day a true fresh start.

Brahma Kumaris has Rajyoga Meditation Centers across the globe. These centers are peaceful and welcoming spaces where you can learn and practice Rajyoga meditation in person. Most cities have at least one center, and larger cities often have several located nearby.
