When old actions or regrets surface in your thoughts, and you wish to transform them with wisdom, this meditation helps cleanse and release the past gently.

Whatever actions we have done in the past have left their impressions within the soul, and those impressions emerge as thoughts. However, when we have spiritual understanding, we can choose to allow the past to remain in the past and learn to take valuable lessons from it. We don’t have to be slaves to our past actions. When we learn the art of relating to the past from a spiritual perspective, we can use it to make us wiser and to help us grow.

Having spiritual knowledge is the first step to cleaning our perception of the past. But simply having knowledge isn’t enough. When we apply that knowledge in our daily lives — in our relationship with ourselves and with others — it is then that we feel we have truly moved on.

I am a result of my past behaviors and experiences, but at the same time, I can use those experiences to propel me into the future, to make me wiser and more mature. So let us explore allowing the past to be the past.

In life, I may have made mistakes. I may have said or done things which perhaps i am not so proud of. But yet I can use all of these experiences to make me stronger and wiser. I need not carry the burden of my past mistakes with me now. I need not carry heaviness or guilt within myself.

Spiritual understanding will help me to be light and to learn and to fly in my own personal journey. Firstly, I choose to acknowledge my past — not deny or ignore it — but acknowledge that whatever I may have done was done by me. And as I move forward, I accept and take responsibility for my actions. By doing so, I come to terms with my ownself. I embrace my ownself fully.

I begin to understand the cause of certain actions or behaviors i may have done. By understanding the mechanism underlying those behaviors, and the cause behind them, I learn valuable lessons. And when I apply those lessons in my life now, I find that I am able to let go of the past.

Sometimes it helps to write down what I learned from the past. By identifying the learning potential from each situation, I allow the mind to release the past situations and let those situations move back to where they belong in the past. There is no need for my mind to hold onto them anymore. The only thing that is important is to carry the lessons into the future.

In the same way, it is also important to let go of the past of others. Each person is a unique individual, playing their own role in the big theatre of life. There is no need for me to make notes and remember perhaps the past mistakes of others. I allow the past to flow back to the past where it belongs.I choose to keep my mind clean.

I choose to keep my mind free from the waste and contamination of past, useless, and negative thoughts. My mind is like a garden — if I choose to keep it clean, life grows and the flowers bloom. And this is a gift to those i come in contact with.

This meditation opens a compassionate inner space to reflect on past actions without judgment or heaviness. It helps shift your perspective from being trapped by past behaviors to becoming empowered by them. As you apply spiritual knowledge, the burden of guilt or self-blame begins to dissolve.

You learn that past impressions don't define your future. With conscious awareness and self-acceptance, this practice allows you to acknowledge mistakes, extract wisdom, and begin again — lighter, freer, and more aligned. As the past stays where it belongs, your present becomes more peaceful, and your future more purposeful.

The more consistently this is practiced, the more it nurtures a natural cycle of emotional hygiene — releasing the old, receiving the new — making each day a true fresh start.

Brahma Kumaris has Rajyoga Meditation Centers across the globe. These centers are peaceful and welcoming spaces where you can learn and practice Rajyoga meditation in person. Most cities have at least one center, and larger cities often have several located nearby.
