When you're reflecting on your journey through life and feel the need to reconnect with your true self beyond roles and responsibilities.

Time is always moving. Time is like a river always flowing. Time is my friend. As I have passed through day to day, week to week, month to month, and even from decade to decade, time has always been moving forward. Along with time comes life.

And as we pass through life, there come roles and relationships. I have played many roles as I have passed through life. I have carried responsibilities connected to all of my relationships. And I'm also aware that nothing is permanent. Life is an ever-evolving process.

Today unfolds into tomorrow and into the day after and the day after. I realize even the roles that I have played in my life have always been evolving, changing, and moving forward. I see myself as one who has carried these roles, played these roles, but I'm not defined by my roles.

Just like an actor wears a costume and clothes specific for a certain role, and as that role changes, the actor may also change his or her costume. So too, I may have been wearing the role of a parent, of an elder in the family. And as that role evolves and changes, I adjust myself.

Remembering that my self-worth, my self-value, my self-esteem is not defined by the roles I play, but rather by who I am and what is inside me. I remind myself I am not what I do. I am not what I have. But rather, I am the inner being of light. The inner being of peace. I am the spiritual energy within. I am that which is eternal.

And when I remember this first and most fundamental truth of my spiritual identity, time, my friend, continues to open new doors for me, to allow me to play new roles in my life, to allow me to express my unique contribution to the grand theatre of life.

Let me remember whenever it seems as though one door closes, another door certainly opens. And so let me keep my mind and my attitude open to receive new opportunities for sharing and expression which life will bring in front of me.

I carry with me the wealth of experience. I maintain my inner dignity, my poise, my self-honor, and by maintaining this, I find newer and greater and higher opportunities to share the treasures which are deep inside me. I am always at peace.

This meditation offers a grounding experience, helping you step back from the ever-shifting roles of life and reconnect with the constant, peaceful self within. By remembering that your value is not tied to what you do, but who you are, you cultivate lasting inner dignity, resilience, and an open heart ready for life’s next opportunity.

Brahma Kumaris has Rajyoga Meditation Centers across the globe. These centers are peaceful and welcoming spaces where you can learn and practice Rajyoga meditation in person. Most cities have at least one center, and larger cities often have several located nearby.
